Informal education started in Mwimbi between 1897 and March 1915, when Daudi Makumi , Wilson Waweru from Thogoto as teacher-evangelists and Samsoni Maingi from Tumutumu as a dispenser were sent by Dr. John Arthur to Mwimbi area to pioneer CSM work. Makumi and Waweru had been trained as teachers at Thogoto between 1906 - 1907 and later worked at Tumutumu station as trained teacher- evangelists. They had undergone vigorous religious training and had six years of formal education at Thogoto.
